Your Driving Licence
On 8th June 2015 the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency) abolished the counterpart (paper) licence. You will now only need your card licence for your driving theory test, practical driving test, car hire, employers etc. The old style paper licences are still valid however if attending a driving or theory test you will also need to take a passport with you. Below are some frequently asked questions:
On my first driving lesson what will I bring with me now that the counterpart has been abolished?
1) Click on the DVSA logo to the left to visit the DVSA 'View Driving Record' page.
Here you will need to fill in your driving licence number, your national insurance number and your postcode. Click the green 'view now' button to take you to your licence details. There are four tabs across the top of the the page. Click on the tab at the top of the page that says 'Share your licence'. You will then be asked to create a code. Click on 'Create a code'. Once the code is created you will have an option to print your details (the print option is in the blue box that now contains your code)
1) You can then bring this printout to your lesson.
2) Or Prior to your lesson text your driving licence, national insurance number and postcode to your instructor
If we cannot get to view this part of your licence or check online you will not be able to drive on your first lesson. It is your responsibility to provide correct licence details
